Riichi Mahjong Big Helper Android Installation Guide

The new Android edition now matches the Windows feature set. Just download the Big Helper app, extract and launch it, grant the requested permissions, and install the BigHelper game client to get started.

Step 1: Download, extract, and launch the Big Helper app

When downloading the latest Android package from the website or community groups, your browser may warn that the file comes from an unknown source. Choose to keep or download it anyway. If the download is an archive, extract it first, then install and open the Big Helper app inside. Keep the network available during the first launch so the app can finish initialization.

  • Chrome: tap the three dots → Downloads → keep the file, then open the downloads folder.
  • If Android shows an 'Install unknown apps' prompt, allow the current browser or file manager to continue the installation.
  • Keep the installer in a dedicated folder so future updates and troubleshooting are easier.

Step 2: Grant the permissions Big Helper needs

After opening Big Helper, complete the prompts in the 'Permissions & Display' section. The current version mainly needs overlay permission, all files access, and app install permission. Continue only after all three show 'Ready'.

  • Overlay permission: shows runtime summary and status inside the game.
  • All files access: used to extract resources and install the BigHelper game client.
  • App install permission: used to open the system installer for the game client or app updates.
  • If Android clears the app from the background automatically, allow Big Helper to keep running in battery settings.

Step 3: Install the BigHelper game client

After selecting your target game in Big Helper, tap 'Install Game Client' or 'Download & Install'. If an old client is already installed on the device, the app will prompt you to uninstall it first and then continue with the new install.

  • If the app says all files access or app install permission is missing, grant it first and try again.
  • After installation finishes, tap 'Done' in the system installer instead of 'Run/Open' because Big Helper still needs to complete extra installation steps.
  • When 'Client Status' in the app shows 'Installed (BigHelper build)', the client is ready.

Step 4: Start the game and begin using it

After the client is installed, return to Big Helper, choose the target game, start the service, and then sign in to the corresponding game account. If client status still shows 'Original build installed (replace required)' or 'Not Installed', go back and reinstall it first.

  • Before the first launch, confirm that the target game, server, and model settings are correct.
  • If installation or launch fails, first check whether overlay, all files access, and app install permissions are still granted.
